Cream Tea with Clotted Cream

On a recent visit to Britain I had the privilege of feasting like a queen!  I had already been told that pasties were an absolute must. They had to specifically be Cornish pasties right out of Cornwall. No others would do.

A pasty is a pot pie of sorts, but it can be held by its flaky crust handle and eaten without silverware. Traditionally speaking they were filled with beef, potatoes, turnip, and onion. Today you can find many different fillings including chicken and vegetarian. It's so popular it's considered the national dish of England!

Another treat that can't be missed is cream tea! Imagine a warm scone topped with thick, rich clotted cream and a generous dollop of strawberry jam. Wow! Devon and Cornwall both boast having the best cream tea in the country.

I found every meal on my visit to London and Southwest England to be absolutely mouthwatering. I find myself still thinking of the cheese and fruit platters with wine, piping hot pot roast, and freshly baked croissants at breakfast. Of course it goes without saying that fish and chips must be on the agenda, just don't forget that there are so many other yummy treats in Britain that cannot be missed!
