Sleeping Beauty Castle

My family and I have been to Disney World a few times so when it was time to start planning our next big adventure we knew it was time to visit Disneyland. And boy, are we glad we did! We stayed at the Desert Palms Hotel, which is a Good Neighbor Hotel, and we were not disappointed. This hotel is in a great location and is within walking distance to the Disneyland Parks and many restaurants so there is no need to rent a car. You can utilize the Disney transportation from the airport so another bonus!

Disneyland Park- This park mirrors Magic Kingdom in Florida so you will find a lot of your favorites. My favorite ride is Pirates of the Caribbean so we headed there as soon as we arrived at the park and literally walked right on the ride. It is not uncommon to stand in line for this ride for a long period of time so this was a nice surprise. So my advice to you, if you like this ride, is to take a left towards Adventureland when you arrive at the park and head right to this ride before it becomes busy. Another family favorite is It's a Small World and we went on this ride 3 times. A nice easy ride for all ages.

California Adventure- This was my first time visiting this park and the first thing I noticed was how less busy it is than Disneyland Park. My son is a huge Cars fan so we headed right to Radiator Springs and couldn't believe how much like the movie it was! Radiator Racers is a must do ride but you might want to consider a fast pass. We did not book a fast pass and stood in line for about an hour both times we went on this ride. The California sun was shining and we were very thankful for the mist they spray on you while waiting in line. If you do not book a fast pass here is a hint, go in the single rider line. You may not get in the same car as your family or friends but it may help you get on the ride faster. And be on the lookout for Lightening McQueen, he drives around Radiator Springs and poses for pictures.

Downtown Disney- This is where you will find the World of Disney and be able to buy all of your souvenirs. A family tradition of ours is to buy a Christmas ornament with the year we traveled on it to hang on our tree. Whenever we look at it we remember the great vacation we went on and all of the memories we made.

We took a day off from the Disney Parks and went on a guided tour up to Hollywood. The bus driver was very knowledgeable and pointed out where several movie scenes were shot and where you will most likely see Hollywood stars hangout. We stopped at The Original farmer's Market and sampled some homemade ice cream, walked along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, visited Manns Chinese Theater and put our toes in the sand at Santa Monica Beach. The kids searched for sea shells and walked along the beach, dipping their feet in the Pacific Ocean.

We had a great family vacation at Disneyland and I cannot wait to help you plan yours!!
