Taj Mahal

I just returned from a wonderful tour of India. We made stops in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. There was a lot of traffic and horn honking, as well as cows, monkeys and mules walking around the streets.

We were able to see some unbelievable sites such as:

  • Akshardham — a Hindu Temple

  • A city tour of old and new Delhi

  • Took a rickshaw ride through the streets

  • Visited many additional temples

At the Sikh Temple in Delhi, they feed over a thousand people daily. We were able to go into the kitchen to see how they make the large quantities of food and feed them so quickly.

We had meditation the first few days of our trip. This really helped you focus your thoughts and relax. It was a great way to connect with the local culture.

We had excellent food and the curry was wonderful. I highly suggest sampling the local cuisine!

After Delhi, we drove to Agra and visited Fort Agra which is where the Emperor used to live. Now you can see the emperor’s palace, but the remainder of the Fort is a military installation.

The next morning, we drove to the Taj Mahal at sunrise – it was unbelievable! We've all seen pictures of the Taj, but it is so unreal when you are actually there. It was a highlight to see one of the wonders of the world.

We were then on to Jaipur. This was a very clean city, but still inundated with traffic. We visited the Water Palace where the women sat behind the screens to see what was happening without being seen. We then rode elephants up to Amber Fort. There was a wall around the fort, just like the Great Wall. We were able to visit stores where they made camel hair rugs. The jewelry stores and bazaar souvenir shops were fun to browse through.

It was then time to return to Delhi after a week of exploring India. We had a fabulous time and a great tour company for our Incredible India Tour.

This was an adventurous journey and I look forward to sharing more and planning your story.
