Waimea Canyon opening out to the sea

Kauai embodies everything you imagine when you think of Hawaii -- it’s called the Garden Island for a reason!  Magnificent waterfalls, rugged rocky shores and white sand beaches, lagoons and rivers in a lush rain forest, and  tropical gardens are some of the reasons why this island’s iconic scenery has been used in filming South Pacific and Jurassic Park.  The natural beauty of Kauai cannot be overstated.

Kauai is a perfect destination for almost anyone.  Honeymooners will love its slow, unhurried pace, its inspiring scenery, and charming resorts. What could be more romantic than a slow cruise down the Wailua River, being serenaded by Hawaiian musicians?   Nature lovers will be in their element viewing “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific” -- Waimea Canyon State Park. This volcanic formation is 10 miles long and offers spectacular views and numerous hiking trails.  Another geological wonder will catch your interest -- Spouting Horn is where the ocean shoots through an opening in the rocks, sending ocean spray high into the air.  Golfers of every ability will enjoy Kauai.  If you’re up for a challenge, try the Prince Makai Course in Princeville.  This award winning course will demand your A game.

One of the best ways to fully appreciate the beauty of Kauai is to take a helicopter tour.  This allows you to see the towering cliffs of the Napali Coast, waterfalls in the rain forest as well as a birds eye view of Waimea Canyon.

You won’t want to miss a luau to experience traditional Hawaiian food and to enjoy the evening’s spectacular entertainment.  Two of the best are at the Kauai Coconut Beach Resort and the Tahiti Nui Luau.

If you’re fortunate enough to be visiting in January or February you can witness the migration of humpback whales as they escape the frigid waters of Alaska and travel over 3000 miles to warmer climates.  Poipu Beach, Na Pali and Port Allen are prime locations for viewing this amazing phenomenon.

I’d like to help you plan a trip to Kauai that will give you a whole new appreciation for Mother Nature.
