Kayaking in Interlaken, Switzerland
When visiting the unique down of Interlaken, Switzerland, you will find yourself surrounded by all of Mother Nature's incredible beauty. There are activities everywhere to participate in. One of these activities that we chose to do while we were there is kayaking in Lake Brienz.
We chose a company called: Hightide Kayak School and we were so glad that we did. Our guide was super laid back, we paddled at a leisurely pace, we never felt rushed. We stopped and pulled our kayaks ashore for a short little swim in the glacier lake, and that was incredible. Have you ever swam in a glacier lake before? Me neither!
I think one of my favorite moments during this excursion was when they made us lock our cell phones into the locker, and NOT bring them with us on the kayak. While this made my eyebrows raise at first, I found the float so much more relaxing just taking it all in and not trying to 'get the picture'. The guide took the pictures during the trip, and all-in-all, capturing the natural beauty that you are taking in, is almost impossible with a photo. I was happy to have really, truly relaxed and enjoyed the ride. 100% recommend.
Lake Brienz is a glacier lake, which means the water can be pretty icy. And even in the summer months, it can still be rather chilly. That being said, if you’re up for a refreshing dip or just want to check out some of the nearby beaches and lidos, Lake Brienz can be a fun experience.
We stayed in Interlaken, and to get to Hightide Kayak School, it was a short bus ride away, and was super easy to find. We hung out after kayaking, enjoying the pool and music and grabbed a sandwich at the little cafe there as well. All in all, a perfect little day!!!!
