When I go on vacation, I like to make sure that all details are taken care of (flights, hotels, transfers, sightseeing) yet also want to have some free time to explore whatever I might be interested in doing that day. I know most of my clients als...

Travelers headed to Hawaii for the first time often ask travel agents, “Which islands should I visit?   In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with Maui because it has so many natural attractions, such a varied landscape, a wide variety of accommodations ranging from high end resorts to cozy beachfront condos, and so many things to do!

Who will have a wonderful time in Maui?

Beachlovers: Kind of a no-brainer, but consider how many you have to choose from!

The following are just the tip of the iceberg:

  • Kaanapali Beach -- probably the most well known, but also the most crowded because many resort hotels and condos stretch along its length

  • Makena Beach State Park -- made up of Big Beach and Little Beach, it’s the one photographers flock to

  • Baldwin Beach Park -- popular with tourists because of easy access and conveniences

  • Honolua Bay -- popular with surfers and snorkelers

  • Kapalua Bay -- less populated as it has few conveniences, features calmer waters, so it’s good for kids and beginner snorkelers

Active Sports Lovers can enjoy:

  • Golf --Maui’s many courses are rated as some of the best in the US

  • Surfing -- If you don’t know how, there are lessons for young and old

  • Snorkeling -- Take an excursion to Molokini, an extinct volcanic cone that houses many of Hawaii’s unique species of marine life

  • Biking  -- Take a sunrise bike tour to the top of Mt. Haleakala or a Pineapple Express trail ride

  • Hiking --the Kings Garden trail will lead you through rainforests, ancient ruins and waterfall vistas

  • Sportfishing -- mahi mahi, oho and ahi abound.  Catch a charter boat in Lahaina or Ma’alaea

Sightseers won’t want to miss these “must see” attractions:

  • The Iao Valley State Park, where you’ll see the Iao Needle, a sacred place for ancient Hawaiians and now a popular landmark with easily accessible hiking trails

  • The road to Hana --a 65 mile long road featuring sharp switchbacks and narrow bridges which links Lahaina with the town of Hana, ending at Seven Sacred Pools, a true tropical paradise.

  • The sunrise on Haleakala -- It’s chilly up there and there are few visitor services, but the view is unparalleled

Maui is truly a destination that everyone will enjoy, and I want to help you make the most of your time there.
