When I go on vacation, I like to make sure that all details are taken care of (flights, hotels, transfers, sightseeing) yet also want to have some free time to explore whatever I might be interested in doing that day. I know most of my clients als...

Cruising the Caribbean is undoubtedly one of the most relaxing vacations you can experience. Depending on which cruise you take, you can satisfy your curiosity about ancient civilizations, discover a thrilling new adventure sport, or simply forget about your worries and enjoy being pampered for the duration.  The good news is that Princess cruises this region all  year long because the weather is uniformly beautiful most of the time. Whenever you feel the need for a  vacation is a good time for a Caribbean cruise. Here are suggestions for our top three Caribbean destinations that may help you decide.

Eastern Caribbean – St. Maarten with its crystal clear water and dazzling beaches has the ultimate easy going, casual atmosphere.  Forget about the frenzied pace of life back home.  Take a catamaran cruise to explore hidden coves in the shoreline, or snorkel in calm waters to make friends with an angel fish.  If that seems like too much work, rent a cabana on Happy Bay and sip a pina colada.

Western Caribbean – Cozumel is the place to be if you’re interested in ancient Mayan civilization.  The ruins at Tulum and Chichen Itza are fascinating and impressive.  Chocolate was as important to these people as it is to us – learn about its cultivation and uses in food preparation today.  Another port on the Western cruise is Roatan, Honduras, where you can meet tribesmen from the Garifuna population and join them for traditional music and dance celebrations.

Southern Caribbean – Saint Lucia is definitely a paradise for divers and snorkelers but there are places of interest onshore besides.  The coral reefs around Pigeon Island  shelter parrotfish, tuna, marlin, kingfish and huge octopus, so if you prefer to stay dry, you can try your hand at fishing these abundant waters. On shore you’ll find tropical gardens and banana plantations. Hiking through the iconic Piton Peaks is a popular pastime if you’re up for a challenge.

Caribbean Destinations for Families – Because Princess cruises to the Caribbean year ‘round, it’s great for families that have to work around school and sports schedules.  Once again we highlight St. Maarten for its family friendly atmosphere and wide variety of attractions for all ages.  Kids love outdoor activities like kayaking, snorkeling and sailing  (the whole family can sign up for the 12 meter “America’s Cup Race!)  Teens will love the scene in Falmouth, Jamaica, where there is plenty of lively activity.  Everyone will enjoy trying some of the multicultural food favorites – Scotchies Jerk Chicken and pasta from Evita’s will satisfy even the picky eaters.

You can’t go wrong with any Princess Cruise to the Caribbean.  I’m here to help you decide which one is best for you.
