Alaska became a state of the union on January 3, 1959, the same day I was born. I must have been destined to make this my specialty and over the years, I have developed a passion for Alaska! My first visit to ‘The Great Land’ was in the mid ‘80s. ...

Bonjour! Buon Giorno! Buen Dia! Good Day! Have you ever thought of visiting the Mediterranean, but asked yourself these questions? Will it be too costly? Will I feel comfortable? Will I like the food? If these questions are stopping you from making the decision to take this 'trip-of-a-lifetime' – wait no more. Recently I had the opportunity to travel on an 11-night Mediterranean cruise and after this experience my suggestion is to wait no longer, just do it! We all look for value and cruising is definitely a ‘best value.’ On this trip, I spent time prior to the cruise in Amsterdam and in Barcelona and would highly recommend a pre- and/or post-stay to experience more of Europe. You’re already ‘there’ – why not take a few additional days? My day would unfold as follows: breakfast on the ship (included); shore excursion (booked ahead or on the ship,); most often lunch was included in the cost of the shore excursion and definitely while on the ship; then back to the ship for dinner and entertainment (included). In addition, on the ship I could select food that I am accustomed to eating, or I could be adventuresome and try a special on the menu that may reflect the local cuisine, plus I had a safe in my cabin for valuables and a lovely stateroom that I could call ‘home’. Another ‘best part’ was the fact that I was able to visit 5 countries while unpacking only once! My itinerary included: Barcelona, Spain; Provence, France; Nice, France; Florence and Rome, Italy; Ajaccio, Corsica; Gibraltar, United Kingdom; and Malaga & Valencia, Spain. If you’re thinking of a Mediterranean or European cruise, please call (608-791-8358) or e-mail me (joann.buening@carlsongolis.com.) One more thing … on this trip, I learned where Pinocchio originated. Do you know? Ask me; I would be happy to share the answer. Au Revior! Arriverderci! Adios! Good – Bye!
