I took the Hispaniola Explorer VIP Tour with AmStar and it was the BEST tour that I have taken. This full day tour began at 6:15am and we didn’t get back until 5:00pm ... while it was a bit tiring I would do it all over again.
Here are a few of the stops we made on the tour:
- Cigar Factory: the newly rolled cigars stay in the humidor 6-8 weeks before they are inspected and sent out for resale.
- Chocolate Shop:
- Toros Baseball Stadium: the baseball stadium and the grounds were pristine. It is the middle of their season.
- Altos de Chavon Amphitheater. Replica of the Roman Colosseum. The theater accommodates 6000 people. J Lo, Julio Iglesias, Frank Sinantra, and Carlos Santana are just a few who have entertained here. The walls are made of limestone and coral. An American businessman built it as a gift for his daughter
Churche
- River Cruise: We cruised the Chavon River We enjoyed a lobster lunch complete with beer, wine, and cobra libras. This river was where the Apocalypse Now was filmed
