Wander Women is a travel company operated by women FOR women.  This travel option puts you in the midst of other adventurous women, who want to dive deep into the culture, customs, and life experiences of women around the globe. This small group travel concept encourages women to get to know each other as fellow travelers and as guests becoming friends with their hosts.

One such adventure is a 13 day tour from Venice to Dubrovnik, Croatia.  You’ll begin at the basilica in St. Mark’s Square.  A visit to the island of Murano gives you the opportunity to witness the art of glassblowing, and you can relax in your gondola cruising the canals of Venice.

Rovinj and Barban are seaside towns on the Istrian Peninsula, where you’ll enjoy a Farm-to-Table lunch with a local family.

In Slovenia, take a boat ride with your host to her family’s fish farm, where sea bass are raised in an innovative sustainability program.  Crossing into Croatia, stroll along the promenade where 19th century wealthy families erected elaborate oceanfront villas.  Take a walking tour with a local historian who will lead a discussion of the women’s movement in Croatia.

But this is a lot more than just a sightseeing tour.  Your hosts along the way have proven themselves as champions for women’s rights and are making a difference in encouraging local female entrepreneurs in their efforts to improve the lives of the impoverished female population in their countries.

Another similar travel opportunity takes you to India on a 12 day tour that includes Delhi, Agra where you’ll visit the Taj Mahal, and Jaipur for a traditional yoga session.  In Jaipur you’ll also be introduced to the Pink City Rickshaw Company, owned by a group of dedicated women who are committed to bringing local women out of poverty by employing them as guides on tours of the city by rickshaw.

India’s historic cities, vibrant marketplaces, and spicy delicacies are reason enough to visit.  But you will also have the chance to meet, dine and celebrate local traditions with these fascinating women.  Join with other like-minded women to see beyond the surface of typical foreign travel and become educated and involved in the women’s movement worldwide.
