I have c...

Australia or New Zealand which better suits you?

Australia

Australia is the size of the united states and I certainly believe it's a destination you need to make multiple trips to. I have myself. Cairns is the home of great barrier and a must-see. I had snorkeled with potato cod which is a VERY large fish. The big beautiful red rock, Uluru is majestic and I had the opportunity to walk the trails with aboriginals and sat on spiritual grounds. You can wine taste your way through southern Australia, some of the best I have had. I visited the 12 apostles via helicopter and I highly recommend this experience. The northern territory has plenty to offer as well consider an air boat tour or a crocodile canal cruise (which wasn't my favorite, but many enjoy).

New Zealand

The landscape of New Zealand is much different from Australia there are rolling green hills with sheep. A stop in Auckland must be on you itinerary. I has the opportunity to sail on America's Cup boats and I highly recommend this. In Waimico visit the glow worm cave, it's simply breathtaking. The Hobbiton film set is certainly a big draw for tourist and you'll understand why when you visit. You can even open boxes of hobbits.

What's Best for YOU?

You won't be disappointed in either destination if you are looking for beautiful beaches, good food and wonderful wine. There is plenty of opportunity for active adventure in both as well. New Zealand is the spot if you are looking for a mountainous region with endless hiking options. Australia is the spot for snorkel sea adventures. If you have a limited period of time to travel than New Zealand may be easier to tackle as it's more condensed where Australia requires multiple trips or an extended holiday to see more.
