Touring the jungles and rainforest surrounding the Amazon River is an adventure that few people are fortunate enough to experience.  Alexander & Roberts tour company has been planning adventure trips like this for 75 years, and their expert guides and naturalists are eager to share their knowledge of this region with people like you.  The group size is limited to 16 guests, and the unique vessel, the M/YTucano, is especially designed to allow access to remote areas other boats can’t reach.

Your journey begins in Manaus, Brazil where you will embark on your river cruise.  The first day takes you through the 400 islands of the world’s largest archipelago on the Rio Negro.  Surrounded by dense vegetation, you’ll have a chance to see many of the jungle residents, monkeys, tropical birds, and threatened species like the giant river otter. As your trip progresses you can expect to travel through a flooded forest and later hike high in the dry Amazon jungle, encountering exotic plants and vines.  A night safari reveals some of the more reticent species, such as the alligator-like caiman.

On the fifth day of the cruise, the Rio Negro flows side by side with the Amazon.  Amazingly, the waters of the two do not blend, and the brown Amazon River and the blackish Rio Negro remain separate.  It’s here that the pink dolphins of the Amazon can be spotted.

Disembarking once again in Manaus, you’ll be treated to a tour of the city and then board a plane for Sao Paulo  The next few days are spent at the Iguassu National Park, where you’ll be able to view this magnificent waterfall from both the Brazilian side of the falls and the Argentine side, where you will encounter Devil’s Throat – the spray from the falls creating shimmering rainbows above the river.

The tour includes:

  • 4 nights accommodations at luxury boutique hotels

  • 4 nights aboard the M/Y Tucano

  • 8 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 4 dinners

  • All sightseeing and shore expeditions

  • Transfers and internal flights

  • All gratuities except for tour guides
