Mara Maisha Camp: Maasai Mara National Reserve

Other Lodges & Camps We Explored!

Maisha Maasai Mara Camp (Outside the Reserve)

As of 2024, Maisha Maasai Mara Camp is just three years old, yet it already feels like a well-loved favorite. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed, creating a space that feels both intimate and welcoming, even with 81 tents accommodating up to 220 people.

Families will love it here—some tents can sleep up to five, making it one of the few camps that truly cater to groups of all sizes. The adorable rock mushroom lights along the pathways add a whimsical touch, and ample storage space (including three luggage racks per tent!) makes settling in effortless.

The tents themselves are beautifully designed, blending local materials with expert craftsmanship. The porches—especially in the family and club-level tents—are extra spacious, perfect for unwinding and soaking in the scenery. Throughout the camp, natural woods sourced from the Mara create a warm, grounded, and authentic feel.

But what really sets Maisha apart are the extra touches:

• A massage area where you can fully relax, surrounded by the sounds of nature.

• A poolside experience with chimenea fire pits to keep warm on cooler nights.

• Purified water dispensers in every tent, refillable upon request.

• Babysitting services during game drives for families who need them.

Evening Maasai dance performances (when occupancy is high).A goodbye cake for guests staying three nights or more—because who doesn’t love a sweet send-off?

With its balance of comfort, charm, and thoughtful details, Maisha Maasai Mara Camp delivers an experience that feels both personal and special.

MGM Muthu Keekorok Lodge

For a more basic but comfortable stay, Keekorok Lodge offers a classic safari experience. The atmosphere is rustic African with a touch of modern influence, and while it may not be as high-end as some of the other camps, it has its own charm.

• Evenings by the bonfire are a highlight, especially with the sounds of hippos grunting nearby.

• The buffet meals were decent, though not as memorable as some of the other places we stayed.

• The best rooms? Definitely the premium Savannah rooms, which have been more recently updated.

One small downside? Uneven pavement in some areas of the camp, so it’s something to be mindful of when walking around.

While Keekorok may not have the same luxury feel as other camps, it’s still a solid option for those looking for a more traditional lodge stay with the sounds of the Maasai Mara all around them.

The Maasai Mara offers an incredible array of accommodations that cater to every traveler's style — and trust me, they're nothing short of amazing! Whether you're craving an authentic tented experience, a luxurious tent-lodge hybrid, or a one-of-a-kind safari lodge, you'll find something truly unforgettable.

The lodges here are more than just places to stay — they're experiences in themselves. Picture yourself unwinding in beautifully designed spaces that blend seamlessly with nature, offering breathtaking views, warm hospitality, and an ambiance that immerses you in the magic of the Mara.

No matter your preference, your stay in the Maasai Mara promises to be just as memorable as the adventure itself!
