I have been working with customers on their vacation plans for over 20 years. The beach, the sand and the turquoise water. Is there any better place to relax? I have helped singles getaways, honeymoon couples, young families and families planning ...

I was among 19 travel agents from the United States invited to explore the northern area of Denmark, known as Jutland.  We were given tour options to learn about specific themes.  I chose a culinary exploration.

We visited a fishing village and watched as the fishing boats brought in their catch and learned about the local fishing guild which is responsible for sorting and preparing the fish for auction. We atttended a fish auction to see the process of sorting and grading the fish, which were sold and immediately loaded for shipping to various locations in Europe.  Some of the fish that were auctioned would be in Italy or Spain by that evening.

We enjoyed a lunch of fresh Blue Mussels, which were in the water only a couple of hours before our lunch.  We sampled and learned about the process of distilling gin infused with different herbs and florals.  A family owned butcher shop in Skagen was fascinating to see the variety of smoked meats that are sold all around Europe.  Lunch one day was served by the same staff which serves the Danish royal family for state and other ceremonial occasions. There is a beautiful organic vineyard and winery that offers unique experiences and sampling.  And, of course, the wonderful Danish pastries!

This is a wonderful destination with much to offer beyond the culinary aspect.  There are many opportunities for outdoor and activities.  There are many hiking options, surfing at Blue Hawaii, and biking anywhere.  There are so many historical sites to see from the Vikings era to World War II.

Please consider this destination for beautiful experiences, both cultural and culinary.  You will not be disappointed.
