City of Auckland

My trip to New Zealand was an unforgettable trip of a lifetime. On my travels I was able to see and experience a lot of the North Island.

Here is my major highlight overview:

Touring on our first day in Auckland we hit the ground running and had a beautiful city tour that included time outside of Auckland in the surroundings areas seeing; wildlife, beaches, waterfalls & then a walk around the city. This experience made me feel like I knew the city better. We spent some time up around the Bay of Islands and had amazing cultural experience at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, learning about the Maori Culture & history. When you are at the Bay of Island a must do is a sightseeing cruise, we learned so much about the history & wildlife around the area & cruised through the Hole in the Rock! We stopped & got to meet The Lord of the Forest who is the oldest & largest kauri tree in the WORLD, his name is Tane Mahuta. We stayed is so many beautiful hotels and stopped to see a few dream accommodations as well! One of those was when we toured The Kinloch Club which is a beautiful 5 -star manor. It has stunning views with a full-service spa & 18-hole golf course feet away. Nearby we also got to experience a Jet Boat on Hukafalls! Now that is an adrenaline rush I will never forget! Jetting around the river banks at supper fast speeds & doing 360°-degree spins is a one of a kind experience in New Zealand. We stayed in the charming city of Napier, that is well known for the Art Deco buildings & vintage cars. The region surrounding Napier is known for the wines in the area, so we took a tour and went to multiple wineries & had a course at each stop. On our way to Wellington we stopped at the Pukaha National Wildlife Centre where we got to see wildlife that we weren’t going to easily see on a fast pace trip like this, eels, Kiwi, and other bird species. We ended that day arriving in Wellington where we explored Weta Workshop.  The next morning in Wellington we took a food tour around the city which was so cool being able to walk the city with a guide and get a lay of the land & ending with a tour of the Te Papa Museum. Our next day was going to see the beautiful Mount Ruapehu which is very cool it is well known for being the mountain in Lord of the Rings (Gates of Mordor) we took a beautiful hike! Then were off to explore Waitomo Caves which is home to the ambient glow worms! Our last day was spent touring the beautiful gardens in Hamilton.

New Zealand has so much to offer, it is so diverse with climates between the North & South Islands. I am so eager to go back to see the South Island because of its beautiful fjords and to see the natural beauty of the island. I couldn’t go back without seeing more of the North Island as well it is a must-see destination & you will need more that 12 days on each island!
