Our Mediterranean cruise on the Princess Sun was one for the books! This trip had it all—ancient ruins, more frozen drinks than you’d think possible, volcano eruptions and a whole lot of Italian gelato.
We started off in Athens, exploring the Acropolis. The heat was exhausting but worth it for the beautiful views everywhere we turned.
Then we enjoyed a day at sea exploring the Princess Sun (Princess' newest ship at that time). We took a few poolside naps, indulged in roughly 58 frozen drinks, and maybe a million hot dogs (who’s counting?), we all enjoyed while soaking up some the sun.
Montenegro! Bar, to be exact. With its mountains, cobblestone streets, and cute little shops, this place looked like a postcard come to life. We strolled through Old Town, it feels like you are stepping back in time.
Then came Corfu, where we discovered that the Ionian Sea is basically a giant, beautiful, and hot blue swimming pool. There were olive trees everywhere, charming alleys, and enough Greek food to keep anyone full for days.
In Sicily, we were all set to see Mount Etna. But in classic volcano style, Etna started spewing fire and lava just days before we arrived, so that was a no-go. Instead, we made the most of Messina. We used the day to wander around and explore this beautiful ocean side city. That evening we sailed right past an erupting volcano!
Italy had a few more surprises, with stops in Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri. Pompeii felt like a walk-through time, with ancient streets. In Sorrento there were plenty of fresh lemons and beautiful scenery for DAYS! Capri was pure island beauty. Italy is a must.
The last stop was Barcelona. We were wowed by all things Gaudí and got our fill of Spanish tapas. We quickly learned that soccer is a religion here. We wrapped up the trip in with plenty of food, architecture, and exploring this vibrant city full of life.
