There is no better way to create a memorable moments, than to do it with a vacation!  Multi-generational Family Vacations, Anniversary, Retirement, 30th/40th/50th/60th Birth...

I recently sailed the Danube River with AmaWaterways, and WOW did I love it! We sailed on the AmaLea. The cabins were well-appointed and thoughtfully designed. The amenities throughout the ship were very stylish, which makes sense given the ship was created with luxury yachts in mind.

River Cruising is an excellent way to explore and visit multiple destinations, while eliminating the constant need to pack up, catch the next flight, train, etc.

My favorite tag line of AmaWaterways is, “Oceans take you TO countries, and rivers take you THROUGH them.”

River Cruising is very different than ocean cruising, in multiple ways.

To begin, the guest count is low. Typically between 150-200 passengers on-board the ship. This makes for a very relaxed experience without large crowds, and the ability to really get to know your traveling companions.

Second, the entire vibe is different. There are no casinos, loud music, glitzy shows, etc. River ships offer a wonderful atmosphere of peace and class, while still providing a bit of evening entertainment, with authenticity to the current destination.

Finally, the sailing experience is so cool! There was never a time where I could feel rough water. It was always so quiet, and no matter what side of the ship you’re on, there is something to look at.

When you arrive in port, many times you will dock right next to multiple other river ships. They literally hook up to one another, and often you will need to walk through another ship to get to shore. The crazy part is that you hear and feel NOTHING in the process. It was very impressive!

I also, HIGHLY suggest adding pre and post cruise stays. I arrived in Budapest two days early, and stayed one extra night in Vienna. The extra time on each end was a great way to start and end the experience with a bit of independence and relaxation.

In conclusion, if you have not yet sailed on a river cruise, take my advice and DO IT. With so many different options, I am happy to help match you with the cruise line that suits you best, and the river in which to sail on.
