Gondolas on the Grand Canal in Venice

Located in northern Italy, Venice and Milan offer a contrasting perspective on this charming Mediterranean nation.

Venice is a maritime city of canals, bridges, gondolas, as well as the quieter Lagoon Islands.  Venice is best explored on foot, where different perspectives unfold around every corner as narrow passages open onto beautiful courtyards or vistas across the Lagoon.  Venice is full of small, local restaurants and quirky shops, many featuring Carnival-related items only available in Venice.

A popular embarkation and disembarkation port, it's easy to add a few days exploring Venice to your Mediterranean cruise.  Or, for a truly unique experience, embark on a luxury river cruise from Venice along the quiet the Po River Valley.

Just 2 hours 30 minutes away by high speed train, Milan is Italy's fashion capital.  Located near the Alpine foothills, this large and bustling city is home to the famous Duomo Cathedral (the largest church in Italy), Da Vinci's Last Supper, the imposing Sforza Castle, the La Scala opera house, and the shops of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.  High fashion and gourmet cuising abounds in Milan, and make sure to visit Bar Basso for their iconic Negroni Sbagliato cocktail.

With the major international airport of Milano Malpensa nearby, Milan makes an excellent arrival or departure point for visiting Italy.
