Monet's Gardens at Giverny

Embarking on AmaWaterways’ “Impressions of the Seine & Paris” river cruise in 2025 was a journey through the heart of France, blending art, history, and gastronomy into an unforgettable experience.

The adventure began in Paris, the City of Light, where we boarded our elegant river ship. A Seine river tour offered a unique perspective of the city’s iconic landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Musée d’Orsay, as we glided beneath ornate bridges along the Seine,'

Setting sail to Mantes-la-Jolie, toured the Renaissance Château d’Anet, built by King Henri II for his mistress, Diane de Poitiers as well as enjoyed a visit to Monet's stunning gardens at Giverny - a must see!

In Rouen, we walked through medieval streets, visiting the Notre Dame Cathedral—famously painted by Monet—and the square where Joan of Arc was martyred.

In Caudebec-en-Caux, we visited the Château d’Ételan, the first Italian Renaissance château in France, and then the Harcourt Arboretum, Château du Champ de Bataille, and the commune of Le Bec-Hellouin.

Then, the highlight - a full-day tour of the historic Normandy Beaches, including Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer.

Throughout the cruise, the luxurious amenities of the ship, combined with the rich cultural experiences and breathtaking landscapes, made for a truly enchanting journey. AmaWaterways’ “Impressions of the Seine & Paris” cruise is a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration, offering a deep dive into the art, history, and flavors of northern France.
